Our Restaurant Is A Collective Of Amazing People Striving To Build Delightful Italian Cuisine.
The term” Osteria “comes from the Latin term HOSPITEM (to host) The etymology of the term recognizes the function of the place, which is precisely, hospitality. The setting is similar to that of taverns which had already existed in ancient Rome, called THERMOPOLIUM. The taverns were built as refreshment points on travel routes or in business districts. They soon also became meeting places and a destination for social engagements. The buildings, often poor and abandoned, gained importance based on the location where they were built and the life that fed on them. “(Wikipedia).
At Osteria Porte Rosse, we want to remain faithful to the concept of “Osteria”, serving simple foods of traditional Italian cuisine, following original recipes and cooking fresh to order. To better reflect this, we’ve designed a one-plate serving of our food, as it was meant to be appreciated in its original recipe. Also, in keeping with tradition, you will find a piece of bread to ‘clean the plate’, which in Italy is called ‘Scarpetta’, which is an essential part of the Italian food experience.
A selection of Italian wines will fully encourage the experience of a typical Italian “tavern”. We invite you to ask our staff for descriptions of the items served and report any allergies so that we can check their suitability for you. In case you wish to take your food home, we will be happy provide you directions for reheating it in order to enjoy it at its best.
